á There is no version 1.2 or version 1.2.1 of the 2D version. Maybe 1.3 will bring it back, maybe not. It all depends on available time, etc; I found that more people were downloading the 3-D version, so more priority has been delegated to the 3D version.
This quasi-project has been in the works for quite some time (since about May 1995), but a little thing called "school" kept on interfering with my working on these icons, and therefore the release. Not only that, Apple released a slew of new machine types over the summer of ╒95, notably the PowerMacs 5200/75, 7200/7500, and the 9500. Not to mention the fact that many revisions, such as the addition of a white-gray line or even a single pixel (changes for 8 icons, each with 6 different resources), were done on most of the icons. I also saw a couple other mac icon archives all over the place recently, so I figured that I'd better get these done soon.
A little history: This got started when I saw a sneak preview screenshot of System 8, a.k.a. Copland. The hard drive had a spiffy 3-dimensional icon, of a 6100, presumably. I had an LC II at the time, however no 3D icon existed for an LC II, so I decided to make one myself. Since it was decent enough, I decided to make some 3D icons for other Mac models as well. I then thought, what the heck, I may as well make an icon for every one that has ever existed, since I wouldn't have much else to do during the summer. And since a 2D collection of Mac icons had to be made before the 3D effect could be added, a 2D version was also createdá. So, there you have it.
Included in this icon package are the following:
Ñ A ResEdit resource containing ics#, ics4, ics8, ICN#, icl4, and icl8 resources of all the Mac "form factors", as they're called, that have ever been released, with the exception of the original Lisa (Mac XL) and the entire line of PowerBooks. Sorry!
Ñ A folder contining folders containing folders with the same icons, except that you can copy and paste them onto your hard drive icon or whatever without the hassle of using ResEdit to do it for you. Same exceptions as the resource (no PowerBooks, Lisa).
Ñ What really distinguishes this package (along with the 2D packageá, which should be available at the same place you found this) from the other icon archives is that virtually every single variation of Mac form factors has been included. Remember the original LC? It was slated to have 2 internal disk drives, but at the last minute Apple decided to put a hard drive in instead, so a case cover was used to cover up the drive slot. If you look closely, at the "LC (original)" icon, you'll be able to make it out. Very minor variations in Mac cases, such as the "lip" found in all manual-inject disk drive-equipped Macs (try saying that five times fast!) or a slight remold of the disk drive and CD areas (for example, some of the II-series, the Centris 610 series and the Quadra series) are included. For instance, the Quadra 800 icon set has eight variations, which include the 4 different optional drive (CD and DAT) locations. Whatever desktop Macintosh you have, in whatever configuration, you should be able to find a matching icon.
Additionally, all of these icons look great no matter what depth monitor you have, although black and white and in View By anything except Icon is pushing the limits somewhat.
Ñ I should explain why the PowerBooks and the Lisa were left out: In the case of the Lisa, I've never seen a good picture of one. In the case of the PowerBooks, they're just too hard to draw, in both 2D and 3D, and school has started again. When I have more time, for example after I get these uploaded, I'll try and work the PowerBooks into a future release. Also, if anyone has a picture of a Lisa, please try and send me a binhexed copy (details below). I'll gladly work it into a future release.
Ñ The icons on the "Series" folders (ie Compact Macs, LC-series) were selected because I feel that they were either the best-looking icon for the series and didn't look like another icon "assigned" to a different folder (that's why the PowerMac line is represented by the 5200 icon and not the PowerMac 8100 or 9500), or because it has become the most recognized icon for that particular series, hence the Plus for the Compact Macs.
Ñ For those of you who are wondering, none of these icons are, to the best of my knowledge, exactly the same as the ones originally supplied by Apple Computer Inc. previous to System 7.5, with perhaps the exception of a couple of small, ics# resources. Maybe not even that. Some of these icons were even created from scratch.
Ñ Icons for the new Mac clones probably won't be included in future releases, since there will be too many to keep track of, I don't have good pictures of any of them, and because this is dedicated to the company and the computers that have made the computing world what it is today. No disrespect for the clones intended at all; I'm all for a greater Mac OS market share. For people who want icons of clones, or icons of PowerBooks, I happily refer you to Mike's PowerMac Iconsá, which is probably easier to find than this is. MPI also has PowerBook icons, which H3DMI does not, but this has icons for the LC-520 series of one-piece Macs, which MPI does not.

Ñ Note: all icons are listed by Apple's "form factor" designation, for example the Quadra 840av, Power Macintosh 8100, etc all fall under "Quadra 800" and its various configurations and case molds.
Ñ Another note: Because of the above note, if you can't find, say, a 6100/66 icon in the PowerMac Series folder, that's because it's form factor, in this case a Centris 610, is under the Centris 610 Series folder. The same goes for the 7100 (IIvx, in the II-Series folder) and the 8100 (Quadra 800, in the Quadra-Series folder). The LC 630, PowerMac 6200/75 and such can be found under the Quadra series. Don't worry, just search the folders. You should find the icon that most closely matches your Mac sooner or later.
Ñ Final Note: Not all of these Mac icons are to scale with the rest. The reason for this is simple: If you were to compare an LC-type case with a Power Mac 9500 case, the LC icon would be about 10 pixels wide and 3 pixels high. Obviously, most people would want detail over accurate scale, so this is what has been done.

Ñ modified all 2Dá versions of the Mac 128K (beige), Mac 128K (platinum), SE, SE/30, Mac Classic, and the all pizza-box style LCs.

Ñ Modified the Power Macintosh 9500 icon slightly so that it looks slightly different from the Quadra 800 line (widened and heightened it by 1 pixel), at Rishi Gupta's suggestion.
Ñ Changed the form factor name of the 7200/7500 from "7200" to "7500", Apple's official form factor designation for the new case.
